Dear BABG members and friends:
It is with great sadness that we advise our BABG family that one of
our dearest friends and most active members, Neville Coltman, OBE,
passed away this past Sunday, August 8th, 2010.
In addition to being a long-time member of the British American
Business Group (Atlanta), Neville served as President of the BABG in
1991-92, and remained amongst our most active members and committee
volunteers throughout the years. I personally recall many fond
memories meeting with Neville and our golf committee at various
pubs, planning the annual Oglethorpe Classic golf outing over the
last few years. From these outings, I’ll always think of Neville, as
I’m sure many of us do, as a perpetually happy chap who enjoyed
spending time with friends and colleagues, infecting us all with his
wonderful charm and lovely demeanor.
Outside the BABG, Neville was very active in helping bring British
athletes to Atlanta for the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996. For
several years leading up to the Olympics, Neville and a number of
colleagues organized various fund-raising events which helped raise
around $1 million for British athletes hoping to compete in the
Atlanta Olympics.
As a result of Neville’s dedication and leadership, he was awarded
the Order of the British Empire in 1997.
