Event Specifics
-
Tell me more about registration?
Is it free - do I need to contribute?
Registration is optional. At the end of the day
we would like to see as many cars and cheerful
owners as possible, so there is no need to pay
to bring your car along. However as we are
trying to raise some money for our charity: The BABG
Scholarship Fund (an exchange between UGA and
Oxford University -
info here), we have added a few incentives
for folks willing and able to sign up ($15/car
in advance, $20/car on the day).
-
Benefits.
All registered owners will be receive the
following:
-
A raffle ticket (one per registered car) for
a $1000 cash prize (as donated by Iron Horse
Tavern and Taste of Britain). Note: No need
to be present at the end to win.
-
The ability to win (and vote for) the car
prizes. We will be having a car owner voted
'Best in Show' as well as the Edna voted
'Taste of Britain' legendary prizes.
-
"Iron Horse Tavern Pub Voucher". Food/bev
lunch discount at the Iron Horse Tavern.
-
Parking. How formal and secure
is the parking? We had about 140 cars show up
last year with about 70 early registrations, so
it wasn't possible to create a formal parking
plan. We certainly tried to group the marques
and it worked out pretty well in the end - so
will try again this year to create sections with
a 'first come first served' policy. Last year we
blocked off South Peachtree Street at both ends
which created a very cozy and secure atmosphere.
We will cordon off more room this year to secure
Jones St if needed, and Gwinnett police will
also be present.
-
Shade. Can I bring a canopy to
cover from the sun? There should be room to
accommodate a canopy or similar in most parking
spots. Many spots have shade under the trees and
shop awnings. Get there early to be sure!
-
Site Access? With the
cordoning off of Jones Street, if possible
please approach the site from the south end of
South Peachtree St - the end with Taste of
Britain and Dominicks at the end. Google map
-
Check In? We will be setting
up a desk underneath the awnings of Taste of
Britain. Come see us when you arrive to receive
your vehicle display sheet, raffle ticket, pub
package etc.
Sincerely hope you can make it this year. Last year
was most splendid, and we received many compliments
on achieving a nice balance. Again we are lucky to
have 2 live bands this year, the BallyBeg
Band followed by the Dixie Kings. By all means tell
us how to improve the event in any way, shape or
form.
